Air Fryers – A Healthy Alternative?
Hello there! I remember when I first heard about Air Fryers. My first thought was “how is this possible?” My second thought was “This isn’t possible.” Well, apparently it is. Air Fryers are sweeping the nation and with everyone looking for healthy eating alternatives, you may have just hit your mark. A question that people tend to ask is “are air fryers any good?” My goal is to answer that question in this article.
What is an Air Fryer?
Simply put, an air Fryer copies the results of deep frying, using nothing but hot air and a tiny amount of oil around food in order to cook it.
It is most often used as a kitchen counter top appliance and is currently revolutionizing kitchens around the world. The air fryer is basically a souped-up convection oven and has hot air swoop in on the food as if was dropped in a traditional fryer.
This makes the food come out crisp, sometimes with no, or very little oil. There isn’t a well-known industrial method as yet, but air fryers are great for home use.
Feel free to check out any air fryer reviews online if you feel the need to stray away, but they’ll tell you the same thing I am, air fryers are awesome!
Ditching the Grease
Technically, no oil is needed when making food with an air fryer but there are a few exceptions.
If you feel the need to use oil when cooking with your device, most oils can be used;
- Peanut oil
are common oils that may be used in an air fryer. Most people are opting out of or simply abandoning their dependence on cooking oils, which in my opinion, is the healthier alternative. But if you MUST use oil when cooking, mix it on your ingredients BEFORE placing your food the inside the air fryer.
Even though many people take advantage of using no oil with an air fryer, you can still use it. However, you will have to mix oil with your ingredients BEFORE putting them in the fryer.
Using an air fryer could be safer than using a traditional deep fryer. I’ve worked in the food industry for 20 years and we use an absurd amount of grease to cook certain foods like fried chicken, french fries, hash browns etc. Have you ever deep-fried some food, took it out of the fryer when it was ready and still had a ton of grease dripping from it?
Does that sound healthy to you?
You owe it to yourself to ditch deep frying your foods using traditional methods. Continuing to do so could lead to a good deal of health issues down the line and an air fryer could help reduce these risks.
Many of you have probably tried and failed to stick to your diet because you couldn’t resist the smell of that fried food. It’s all about moderation, but you don’t have to give up your fried foods anymore. Switching to air fried foods will undoubtedly be a healthier alternative and lower the risk of obesity.
When you make the decision, compare air fryers to make sure you get the one that is right for you. There are very cheap air fryers out there, but you want to make sure you don’t sell yourself short. Make sure to buy a quality product.
Now I won’t lie to you, an air fryer won’t solve all your health and food problems, but it’s a start.
Please feel free to visit my website in the future as I will have hot air fryers recipes to give you some ideas about healthy eating once you cross over.

The Future of Cooking
These devices weren’t really that expensive when they first came out and they look to be even more affordable now. Companies are having air fryer sales with hundreds of different designs but it is up to the consumer to figure out what are the best air fryers for them.
This is a game changer. Maybe in the next 5 – 10 Years, all the fast food chains will switch to industrial fryers and french fries will be healthier than they are now. You never know, but it could certainly save those companies millions on the costs of the oil they need to pour into their standard fryer.
I would like to end this article by pointing out a brief history of the air fryer. It actually has been around a lot longer than we thought, but has garnered a lot of interest in the last year.
In 2010, Philips introduced the air fryer but only recently has the air fryer begun to take off. The air fryer Phillips had the potential to change the standard kitchen forever and has finally begun to get some traction. The air fryer is the future of cooking and there are no signs of it slowing down anytime soon.
